North Warrandyte Sewerage Project
Yarra Valley Water is providing sewerage services in the North Warrandyte area.North Warrandyte is located in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs along the northern banks of the Yarra River, and is approximately 30km from the Central Business District of Melbourne. Residents of North Warrandyte currently manage their wastewater via onsite systems. Nillumbik Shire Council identified approximately 1,000 properties that were unable to contain their wastewater on site all year round.
These properties in North Warrandyte are currently scheduled to be serviced by the North Warrandyte Sewerage Project. Some of the key benefits of the project include:
-
Improving the health of the waterways by decommissioning leaking septic tanks
-
Protecting public health
-
Reducing odours in the area
-
Providing a more liveable environment for the residents of North Warrandyte
The project has been divided into 7 work packages, as follows:
-
Three packages of street works and property connections (Packages A, B and C)
-
On-property pump installations (pressure sewer customers only)
-
Pressurised large sewerage (rising) main
-
Sewerage pumping station
-
Inverted siphon main

We formally declared the sewerage service in North Warrandyte to be 'ready for use' on 21 December 2016.
Community contribution fee
As we have had a high level of interest in people connecting to the new sewer, we are pleased to advise that we have extended by another twelve months the date from which we will start collecting the Community Sewerage Contribution fee.
We will now start collecting the fee from 21 December 2018. This will allow you more time to engage plumbers to complete any works required.
If your property has not connected by 21 December 2018, a Community Sewerage Contribution fee will be added to your quarterly bill. This fee will be $26.44 per quarter for 20 years or until the property has connected.
